“Lethal operative Scot Harvath is dispatched to avenge the killing of American citizens abroad…”

Ukraine. Russia. Scot Harvath. That could be my review of Brad Thor’s newest thriller.

Everyone knows of the war raging in Ukraine. News of the atrocities committed by Russia and the Wagner Group have been in the media for months.

Once again, Thor has shown that he is a student of what’s taking place on the international stage and sets his hero in real-life conflicts. This is what makes Thor’s books so appealing. Readers hear about what is actually happening in Ukraine, and then we get to experience that through fictionalized action.

True to form, the 22nd installment of Thor’s Scot Harvath series delivers on all fronts. Fast-paced. Action-packed. This book is everything fans have come to love from Brad Thor.

One thing we have been starting to see with Harvath is the questions about how much longer he can stay in the game. Thor continues this in Dead Fall. There are instances where Harvath wishes he was somewhere else. He’s tired and wants a vacation. But he’s a warrior at heart and he puts his mission above all.

I like the humanity Thor weaves into Harvath. I like that we see Harvath wrestling with tough questions but, in the end, he does what he believes is right.

I don’t know if I could pick a favorite Harvath book, but I do know this one is up there as one of my favorites.

Admittedly, this book took me a little longer to read than normal, but that was due to personal reasons, and in no way is a mark against the author. If I had the time, I probably could have finished this book in one sitting.

I’m certainly looking forward to the next installment. Maybe we will get to see Scot and Solvi on a mission together?

Well done, Mr. Thor. Well done.
